| Introduction to The Gottman
Method
Friday, December 7 -- 1 PM to 3
PM SOLD OUT
The
Gottman Method, developed by John Gottman, PhD, author of The
Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work , is an
empirically based method for couples therapy. It has shown
unprecedented effectiveness in helping 75% of couples
treated to significantly improve their relationships and
maintain their gains for one year. The goal of the therapy
is to help couples to function better in the following
areas: problem solving and conflict resolution, expressing
wants, planning joint activities, discussion of emotions,
and communication about values, goals and a vision for the
future. This class is designed for therapists who have
minimal knowledge of The Gottman Method and would like to
learn more.
Learning Objectives:
- You will understand the core Gottman Method model
which will enable you to start making effective
interventions with couples.
- You will be able to identify and correct the Four
Horsemen, the primary predictors of divorce.
- You will learn at least one specific Gottman Method
technique which you will be able to immediately use with
couples to help them improve their relationships.
- You will learn about outcome research showing how
couples using The Gottman Method have improved their
relationships.
